Born in
1928 in Hainan, China, Tan Tee Chie is presently a Singapore
citizen. He graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts
(Fine Art Department) in 1951. He was the former head of school
affairs and registrar with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
Tee Chie
is renowned as art critic, calligrapher, painter and seal-carving
expert. He had held 5 solo exhibitions, one of which was an
invitation by the University of Michigan to personally hold
talks and demonstration sessions during the exhibition.
His Chinese
paintings were exhibited in China, Japan, Italy, Hong Kong,
USSR, Malaysia and Singapore. His works are collected by many
Singapore and overseas corporate and individual collectors
such as Singapore National Museum Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur
National Museum Art Gallery, Museum of Art of the University
of Michigan. He is listed in the China seal-carving artists'
directory, and Chinese paintings and calligraphy artists'
directory.
Tee Chie
is currently a Senior Lecturer with the Nanyang Academy of
Fine Arts. In 1993, he was awarded the NAFA long service award
for his 40 years of service with the institution.
