Nai Swee
Leng was born in 1946. He loves painting since his childhood.
He was inspired by his art teacher, the late Mr Fan Chang
Tien, a renowned Wu's Artist who was famous for drawing orchids
and bamboo. After Swee Leng graduated from the Nanyang Academy
of Fine Arts, he also had Chao Shao-An, the Lingnan master
as his mentor. To strive for excellence and to develop his
personal style in his painting, he studied under many artists
and practised many different kinds of skills and techniques
of both eastern and western artists. He prefers working with
Chinese ink, and this is reflected especially in his recent
creative works. He tries to develop and simplify the form
and the composition of his works. At the same time, he tries
to embody the originality of the objects in his painting.
He had held many exhibitions both in Singapore and overseas.
He was highly commended by the art world.
