"Paintings
are the flowers of culture. They speak without words. They are not limited by
time, nationality or language. They have souls of their own."
"The
world of art is a garden with myriad blooms. I have never encouraged the notion
of single dominant style, nor did I ever attack practitioners of other modes.
I believe that any school or style has right to exist. But I have never purposefully
fooled with weird modes. Such unfounded methods only deceive the door and the
viewer and should not be emulated."
"My works
reflect life and I prefer to paint in a realistic and slightly impressionistic
style - rather than abstract or purely impressionistic. I travelled widely, especially
in Europe. During that time, because of greater exposure to Western styles of
painting, I began painting in the Western style.
When I returned to Southeast Asia I swung back to the Eastern style. Presently,
I paint in both Eastern and Western styles in oils; on subject ranging from
people, birds and animals to scenery. I want to create my own `Oriental' style
of oil painting, and I think I have achieved this in `Life in Bali' and `Off
the Race Track'."
