There are four departments in School of Performing Arts:

i) Music Department was established in 1984 and since has been an important integral part of the Academy
ii) Dance Department was also established in 1984 and the driving principle in launching the Diploma Program which is to provide the disciplinary professional training as well as the academic study of a wide range of subjects in dance field.
iii) The establishment of Theater Department in 1997 with Diploma in Theater Program, and
iv) the launch of Arts Management Department in the year 2000 resulted in the School of Performing Arts becoming a fully-fledged unit of the Academy.

The Music Department's new Degree Program is the BA (Hons) in Music (validated by the University of Wales) which will be delivered entirely in Singapore. This is a first big step towards international recognition.

Identified with the artistic and educational discipline of NAFA, School of Performing Arts provide the performance-centered, practical-based courses, which will help to enable our students to immediately enter the performing arts profession and the related "industries" in both local arts scenes and that of the overseas upon graduation. Above all, stringent efforts are also made to design our courses in consideration of the possible transferable skills in order to equip our students with more competent flexibility to further broaden their future career prospects.

In response to the nation's "Renaissance City Drive", if you are planning to realize the dream of your immediate engagement in the professional performing arts scenes, School of Performing arts at NAFA is your ideal choice and immediate address.
