Department of Multimedia
The Multimedia Department was set up in January 1997 in accordance with the Academy's plan to provide students with technology-based knowledge and skills, and the opportunity to specialise in the field of Multimedia.

In March 1997, we obtained a financial grant from the then National Computer Board (NCB) to fund the setting up of new computer laboratories. Currently, the Multimedia Department has 9 computer laboratories under its care: 4 Mac laboratories and 5 PC laboratories to conduct digital photography, digital media design, animation, and CAD courses, etc.

In 1998, both the Diploma in Multimedia and Certificate programme were launched to cater to the growing needs in the field of Multimedia; this is in line with the national agenda to provide technology-based education to train more digital media professionals.

The BA (Hons) in Multimedia Design degree programme was launched in July 2001. The programme provides an extension to our diploma course and also to students from other institutions who wish to pursue an undergraduate education.

The department plans to have a gradual increase in the number of students, taking into consideration the market forces, to cater to the growing demand from the industry.
In view of the rapidly changing world of IT, the Multimedia department will also continue to upgrade its courses and facilities to meet the challenges.
